Bath New Build

Product used Brimstone poplar Where Bath Architect Jak Homes

This beautiful new build in Bath is the home of two property developers with a passion for creating low impact, future-fit homes.

When it came to choosing the right timber cladding to complement their ashlar stonework, they opted for Brimstone.

Its stylish look and durable nature ticked all the physical boxes. And our commitment to creating a low impact product sealed the deal.

A little background

While the two property developers have their own business, this project was all about creating a ‘forever home’ for their family. The Bath stone walls give a nod to the heritage of Bath, while the timber cladding adds a contemporary twist.

Internally the house has underfloor heating and an air-source heat pump, plus clever touches like glass supports for the hallway skylights. The heart of the home is the kitchen, with enormous windows protected by solar shades clad with Brimstone poplar.

“The use of materials and the attention to detail are what sets this project apart”

Why Brimstone?

The couple had several reasons for choosing Brimstone. Firstly, it fitted the overall aesthetic they were looking for. As our Brimstone poplar cladding is made from thermally modified timber, it has a smooth, crisp and knot free appearance.

The process of thermal modification also transforms this British-grown wood into a stable and durable cladding. A must-have for any ‘forever home’.

A commitment to conservation

But Brimstone is about more than long lasting good looks. At its heart is a commitment to the conservation of UK woodlands.

All of our Brimstone poplar is sourced from well managed local woodlands and delivers a clean finish – like imported hardwoods, but without the need to transport timber for thousands of miles.

When you buy our products, you’re supporting tree planting and helping to increase biodiversity right here in the UK.

The final results

There’s no denying that this build is a special one. We’ve loved following their journey on Instagram, where you can see more photos of this award-winning home.

We agree.
